Amy Berg

As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with you and your team (family, friends, and healthcare providers) to support you on your path to wellness and wholeness. I can provide medication management, counseling, and education to further you along the continuum of health. For over 15 years I have witnessed the impact of mental health and illness on physical health and illness. We are dynamic beings with the unique ability to heal, adapt and grow to achieve optimum health. I am honored to be a part of your team. Let’s get to work!

During our time together, we will work to establish a therapeutic alliance, exploring current concerns and their impact on your health, influences shaping your unique situation, and establishing goals for our work. I want to understand your personal medicine: skills, techniques or strategies that have been beneficial to deal with the stress of life thus far. This will be a time for us to explore physical, mental, and emotional health and where I best fit into your treatment team. We will explore available treatments and what may be helpful in your unique circumstance. For some it may be lifestyle changes, for others it may be psychotropic medications, and for others it may be counseling or health education.

From the emergency department to community mental health clinics to integrative health clinics, I have experience working with diverse people across the life span. I have witnessed the triumph of the human spirit working with professionals, students, retirees, foster care families, sex industry workers, artists, DOC inmates, LGBTQ clients, Native American clients, clients with complex medical diagnoses, and trauma survivors.

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my dogs. I seek the great outdoors whenever possible and love exploring the Pacific Northwest by motorcycle, camping in my teardrop trailer, snow skiing, or backpacking. Almost any season I can be found on the soccer pitch, either playing or cheering the Portland Thorns on to victory. Although any opportunity to travel truly renews me. From the jungles of Peru to the misty mountains of New Zealand, the Serengeti plains of Tanzania to the gothic spires of Prague, I take every opportunity to use my passport.
