Isael
Vanegas,
LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Texas, Oregon, and Idaho. I have been in the practice of social work which includes social services, crisis intervention, counseling, and psychotherapy. My experience ranges from working with unhoused individuals and families, community mental health counseling, school social work and counseling, mobile crisis work, suicide research, and program management. Areas that I specialize in are Depression with suicidal thoughts, anxiety and related challenges, PTSD/Trauma, and role transitions. Being a trauma informed clinician allows me to work closely with individuals by building trust and creating a safe and nonjudgmental space that allows for vulnerability to take place. I would describe myself as calm, validating, understanding, compassionate, and safe. My style of counseling is eclectic, conversational, personable, and validating. Clients that I work with could expect to increase their self-awareness, learn tools to combat any challenges that may come, and find ways to enjoy life, as well as find their place in this world.

Biography

I was born and raised in the Bayou City of Houston, Texas where I spent the first 34 years of my life. I made the move to Portland with my husband and two wonderful fur babies in April of 2024 and have been enjoying this new stage in my life. During my free time, I like to spend time with my husband exploring all of what Portland has to offer which include trying new foods and bars, spending time with new friends, reading the classics and about human behavior, hiking, and meeting new folks.
