COVID vaccines ages 5 to 11 years

COVID-19 Vaccine Update for Children 6 Months-4 Years

The FDA and CDC have reviewed the data from the clinical trials for both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for children 6 months to 4 years and have given authorization for both. We as a clinic are excited for the younger members of our families to get their opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Patients will be able to receive the vaccine in the office if they already have an upcoming appointment scheduled or we will have a limited number of “vaccine-only” appointments each day with your child’s pediatrician. We are awaiting the shipments of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, which should be arriving later this week. There are lots of sites around the state which are giving all vaccines, including to the 6mo-4yr age group. Click this link to find a COVID vaccine site.

COVID-19 Vaccines for young children likely coming soon

On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, the first step in the process of making COVID-19 vaccinations available to young children occurred. The advisors to the FDA unanimously voted to recommend both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for children ages 6 months to 5 years. This does not immediately make these vaccines available, however they may be available as early as next week if the rest of the steps in the process move as quickly as they are expected to.
